How many people are lucky enough to have a best friend from another country? Not many, but I am one of the lucky few! That best friend is none other than sweet, sweet NAOKO.
We met four years ago when we were roommates in Florida, and she is just the greatest - hilarious, sweet, beautiful- seriously, had I not had Naoko, I may have never lasted in my job, my apartment, my anything! she SAVED me!
My favorite memory of Naoko is this: When we lived together she had a scale in her bathroom and I couldn't use it because it was in kg and it was too much work to convert everytime. & i never saw Naoko use it.. so it pretty much sat there ununsed. Then on the day we are moving out, we are scrambling around, trying to clean up the dump that is our apartment and send things home. And next thing I know, Naoko is looking for her scale because she needs to weigh her luggage. and sweet sweet Naoko realizes that she packed up the scale and sent it to Japan already. ironic because the only reason she brought the scale in the first place was to weigh her luggage. we laughed and laughed. i realize no one else probably thinks this is funny. but stuff like that happened to us ALL the time.
Naoko has been living in Florida for the past four years now, so I have been able to see her often. In fact, I just went to visit her last month. She was the best hostess and I had a BLAST! We got to relax relax relax, it was so wonderful. She also took me to get the best fro-yo at MENCHIES. The coolest place ever.. you make your own combination of all different flavors and every topping
you can think of! There are none in PA yet, sad to say.
So now I am stuck in PA with no Menchies and stuck in the U.S. with no Naoko because she is back in JAPAN for now! however i am so glad to be hearing all about her life here.
what's next for our friendship? well, i am sure that one day i will be in Japan visiting her. and... maybe.. someday soon she will come visit me in CANADA? what do you think Nao????
