My dad has a twitter.
We had to set one up for him a couple weeks ago so we could get updates on his marathon progress. but i think he was secretly excited about getting an account. My brother and I were helping him think of a name - we threw out some standards like "Jake Man," "Jake the Snake," "The REAL Jake Pawlak" "Mr. Pawlak." and he throws out "Well, how about JakeTheMelter" way too quickly, indicating that he has given this some thought before (melting is the job he does at work).
He's also brought tweeting up to me previously. as in "did you hear about this thing called twitter? where people update you on what you are doing? like - i just took a bath?" of course dad, yes, i have heard of twitter. One guess on what his first "official" tweet was... you guessed it... "i just took a bath"
so recently he has been updating his twitter daily with the following tweets - that, more or less, seem to be messages to my mother:

yes i was at my parents house sick on tuesday. received about 5 calls from my mom. got a text from my brother too - "are you sick?"
3. call me if you want a update on this nursing home b.s. also news alert!!!!!! I got the whole story on J.R. from ash!!!!!!!!!!!!!
j.r. is my brother. there is no news alert. i didn't give him any story. those of you who know my dad can picture him writing this status and cracking up at himself.
so if you have twitter. i am going to have to insist that you "follow" him at jakethemelter.
i don't have it, so i can't. his only real follower right now is my mom.
